Should you be advertising in local magazines and newspapers right now?
Yes and NO.
No, if your target market does not read them.
100% yes, if they do.
But, the secret is in the way you actually run the ad.
Most advertisers just put their logo and services and wonder why print marketing never works.
I follow a formula I learned from Jay Abraham called, "Star, Story, Solution", that works perfectly for print marketing…and all other forms too.
All you need is a star, which is usually a client that has seen great success.
A story that goes with that success that is somewhat interesting (boring stories don’t usually sell).
A solution, that I know you have. It’s your offer.
I recently ran an ad in a local magazine with great success following this formula.
It’s a story of a woman named Cathy, who lost 83 pounds with us and has kept it off for 5 years.

From Twinkies and Ring Dings to Turkey and Almonds
This is the story of how my personal trainer gave me my life back. My
name is Cathy, and the story you’re about to read is a crazy one, so get ready.
I spent my entire life overweight, out of shape and dealing with health problems. I used to make jokes about it, but deep inside I wasn’t happy with how I looked. In addition, my doctor was unhappy with how I looked on the inside...and gave me a verbal lashing I’ll never forget. It was exactly what I needed.
I drove home from the doctor crying and upset that I had let myself get to this point. I knew I needed to do something, but had no clue where to start. I also knew how much I loved sugar, and how much I hated exercise.
I had never stepped foot inside a gym before...I swore I never would. Well, I think the stars aligned that day because an ad from a local personal trainer came across my feed.
I knew the guy who ran the gym...they had worked wonders with my 50 year old brother. But that place intimidated the heck out of me. On any other day, I would have scrolled right past it, but it was just hours after my doctor had kicked me in the teeth.
I no longer wanted to be a bad example for children -- I was truly showing them how to live an unhealthy life. I was ready to make a change.
I applied to win six weeks of free personal training at Gabriele Fitness in Berkeley Heights. I secretly hoped I would NOT get picked, but I guess they read my story and wanted to help.
Just a week after I sat in my doctor’s office, I sat in a different office...the office of
my personal trainer, Vince Gabriele. I had no idea this would be the guy who would help me change my life, but he was.
In six weeks I lost 25 pounds...in six months, I lost 83! This was five years ago. Today, as I write this in the heart of a pandemic, I have not gained a single pound back! There was no one more skeptical than I was, there was no one who
hated to exercise more than I did...and there was no one who loved to eat more.
But my trainers taught me three things everyone needs to know to live a
healthy life:

My why was to be around for a long happy life with the people I love most. This is what keeps me going today.
